OUR STORY

It started as an initiative. In the Fall of 2010, Kristi Cochrane challenged her daughter Tayllor to do something bigger than herself. Tayllor met with five of her friends and by the Spring of 2011, save (Sustaining A Village Everyday) was created.

In its initial stages, save was meant to be a one-year campaign to raise $25,000 in the community to help sustain the village of Boukeron in Haiti. The six teenagers, under the guidance of Kristi, launched numerous fundraisers to help reach their goal, including a letter campaign, a car wash, business sponsorships, a 5K, and a holiday craft show. By the time Christmas rolled around at the end of the year, the group had raised over $26,000. As the group assessed what they had done, they knew that there was still much to do in Boukeron, and decided to turn save into a long-lasting organization.

Now in its fifth year, save has become an inspiration for teenagers and a beacon of hope for a rural community in Haiti. The program has raised almost $150,000 and is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. A new set of high-school leaders have been brought in as the older have created branches of save in college. However, save is just getting started. There is still much for us to do, and we do not plan on stopping for a long time. We firmly believe that anyone can make a difference, no matter his or her age. In 2011, none of us could have imagined that a couple of teenagers would change the lives of over 3,000 people. Now we are more excited than ever to see what unfolds over these next few years, and we hope that you will join us.

Whether it be by a donation, volunteering, a partnership, or prayer, we are humbled and grateful for your belief in our cause of fighting poverty and inspiring teenagers across the world. If you would like to follow us each step of the way, you can join our email list or follow our blog.

OUR MISSION

S.A.V.E. is a teen led initiative motivated by the Gospel of Jesus Christ to share God’s love with the world, created to encourage and equip tomorrow’s leaders by investing in the lives of others through fundraising, business management, and mentorships while establishing village partnerships in an effort to secure self-sufficiency and inspire others to do the same.

The vision of S.A.V.E. is to create equipped leaders around the world, both youth and adult, to use whatever gift(s) they have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12
